3D Home Design

With design software products for different operating systems and platforms, Joy creates both a floor plan view and the indispensable 3D view that lets you walk through your project to get a very realistic feel for the space before you tear down that wall.

We can try different layouts and options at the click of a mouse or tap of a fingertip.  Whether moving a wall a few inches or trying different paint colors, you can walk through the rooms in accurate scale and see if the design works for you.

You’ll be amazed at how closely that design can translate from idea to screen to actual space.

Builders have provided the positive feedback that it absolutely helped them in their job, to see not only the floor plan but even better to have the visual image of the design – and, boy, did they make it happen!  Check out the “before and after” design images and photos of the final construction project.

Projects include the design of bath and laundry remodel, new library, and a detached 800 sq ft accessory dwelling unit (ADU) with two decks and a screened-in porch designed with a sunset view.  Creative and thoughtful elements incorporating universal design standards support age-in-place living.

You dream it, Joy of All Trades LLC helps you design it.

This bath remodel took a converted porch in a 1905 Victorian back to a style that fit within the home.

Given the tight space, it was essential to leverage every inch.

Getting creative, a restored 1925 clawfoot tub was set in an open shower walled with porcelain tile designed to look like stacked stone.

Beadboard wainscotting and a pedestal sink were essential to esthetic.

Floor plan mode in the app kept dimensions accurate to the inch.

3D walk through mode gave you the look of the design and style, and a realistic feel of the space, allowing you to make changes on the fly before literally setting them in stone.

This extension of the Victorian bath remodel of the converted porch leveraged existing plumbing to turn a tiny half-bath into a space with a custom-designed and custom-built rustic laundry sink cabinet with copper bowl sink.

Getting creative, the cabinet was designed to hide a litter box and to contain the litter.

Beadboard wainscotting was continued around the room and down the hall, along with classic slate tile flooring.

With the tight space, it was essential to leverage every inch.

Floor plan mode in the app kept dimensions accurate to the inch, ensuring room for a double-door pantry, full-sized refrigerator, and stacked washer & dryer.

Talk about a wasted space.

This barn had been converted to an apartment with a tiny bedroom, and was later left unheated and used for storage.

But, oh, the potential!

The wall came down, suspended ceiling removed, and original posts and beam exposed. Two additional reclaimed beams were added.

With the aid of 3D design, the two new beams were visually tested at different spacing to ensure the wide open room wasn’t chopped up into pieces.

The result is a warm, welcoming rustic library with a cozy sitting area and a corner office.

This cozy cottage was a labor of love.

As an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), it needed to be 800 sq ft or less of living space.

To allow for age-in-place living, it needed to follow universal design standards: 36″ clearance between fixed objects, nonstandard 8′ slider, and ease of access and mobility.

And, of course, it should be a dream home with a screened in porch to enjoy the sunsets.

Initially designed without a full basement, the opportunity arose as ground was being broken to add a full basement.

With a quick redesign, some footage was taken from a bedroom and the bathroom to create stairs to the soon-to-be man cave.

For design options, we tried blue walls vs. yellow, butcherblock vs. marble counters, various flooring, siding, and trim options.

The builders were happy to use the floor plan and design printouts, and delivered this little cottage exactly as dreamed.
